In a story that is both introspective and brutal, Antônio Xerxenesky forces us to confront past traumas, but, above all, to face our fears for the future.
Filmmaker Orson Welles released his masterpiece, Citizen Kane, at the age of 25. At the same age, Ana, the novel’s protagonist, plans to execute her own masterpiece: killing Orson Welles.
As a contract killer known for the subtlety in the execution of her services, Ana kills because she’s talented, and because it pays well — but she prefers hits whose targets are of dubious morals. Not that it makes any difference: she doesn’t believe that the world can be a better place. What really matters is art — and, for Ana, killing is an art.
In her ambitious plan to murder Welles, the young woman ends up involved in a complex plot that slips from her grasp. Lost between memories of the past and hallucinations of the present, she has no escape except recording on paper everything she believes to be true.
Set in movie theaters, discos and small rooms in Paris, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro, F is a fierce novel celebrating in an unique way the fluid and unavoidable lines between truth and fiction.
